
| Recently appointed Concertmaster of the Auckland Philharmonia, violinist Andrew Beer has performed as a soloist with leading orchestras in North America, and as a composer himself has worked with many contemporary composers. Pianist Sarah Watkins, a graduate of the Juilliard School as Doctor of Musical Arts in collaborative piano, has enjoyed an impressive career as chamber musician, collaborative partner and recording artist, and is a foundation member of the New Zealand Trio.
This concert features Lilburn’s great 1950 sonata, an eloquent sonata by Beethoven, Ravel’s virtuosic Sonata in G major, two ebullient rhapsodies by Bartok, and an enchanting and mysterious work by Canadian Scott Good.
