Tasman String Quartet

Tasman String Quartet

New Zealand’s youngest full-time professional chanber ensemble, the Tasman String Quartet, is currently in residence at the University of Colorado in Boulder where they are mentored by the legendary Takács Quartet. Take this opportunity to hear violinists Anna van der Zee and Jennifer Banks, violist Christiaan van der Zee and cellist Miranda Wilson when they visit Wellington to perform for Sunday Concerts 2009.

This young group’s achievements in 2008 included winning a coveted fellowship that enabled them to work intensively with the American, Cavani, Emerson, Takács, and Ying Quartets, and members of the Juilliard and Cleveland Quartets. They were invited to perform in the Juilliard String Quartet Seminar in New York City and they were prizewinners in both the internationally respected Plowman Chamber Music Competition in Missouri and the inaugural Joan and Daniel Rutenberg Chamber Music Competition in Tampa, Florida.
