Amalia Hall with John-Paul Muir

Amalia Hall with John-Paul Muir

Both recent graduates from the University of Auckland’s School of Music, violinist Amalia Hall and pianist John-Paul Muir have already played in many chamber music ensembles together with great success, despite their youth.

Amalia began playing chamber music at the age of eight with her siblings as the Hall String Quartet. She has been accepted to undertake post-graduate study at the prestigious Curtis Institute in Philadelphia from late 2008. With Sophie Williams, she and John-Paul won the Royal Overseas League/Pettman International Chamber Music Scholarship in November 2007. This provided them with performances in London and Edinburgh, masterclasses at the Dartington International Summer School and lessons with some prominent UK teachers.
