Award–winning Calvino Trio is fast gaining an international reputation as a piano trio to watch. In 2014 they were awarded first prize at the Jeunesses Musicales Suisse competition in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. In 2015 they gained first prize at the Orpheus Swiss Chamber Music competition and an invitation to represent the Musikhochschule Basel at an international chamber music festival in Portugal.
Their pianist is outstanding New Zealander Jun Bouterey-Ishido, who took 1st Prize at the 2008 Kerikeri International Piano Competition. The other members of the trio are Finnish violinist Sini Simonen and Canadian cellist Alexandre Foster.
Their programme includes the popular Ravel and Schubert trios as well as Gao Ping’s exciting Four Sketches.
