Jian Liu is Deputy Head of School, Associate Professor, and Head of Piano Studies at New Zealand School of Music, Victoria University of Wellington. He is a regular performer for Sunday Concerts as a soloist and member of various chamber music groups.
The concert explores how composers from different times and cultures paint their worlds in sound. Works by NZ composers (Lilburn, Fisher, Farr, Whitehead, Ritchie and Farquhar) are contrasted with those of Chinese composers. The journey begins with landscapes and turns to childhood and memory.
