Wellington-born Miranda Wilson was the founding cellist of the Tasman String Quartet and has performed as a soloist and chamber musician on five continents. She has a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin and is Associate Professor at the University of Idaho. A Middle-C review of Miranda’s last Wellington concert commented on the “qualities of presence, focus and intensity to her playing throughout”.
Rachel Thomson has a doctorate from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She has won awards and competitions at home and in the USA, including the NZ National Concerto Competition. Rachel has performed with some of NZ’s leading musicians and has toured for Chamber Music NZ. She is a member of the chamber ensemble ETHOS.
Together they present a programme of romantic French sonatas from the 1840s and 1850s.
